  10. Gun Control = Despotism

  12. It has become very obvious that a vast majority of this country's citizens
  13. are totally ignorant of the hidden agenda and objective of those who have
  14. created and continue to direct the anti-firearm movement. The hidden
  15. agenda of this collective and conspiring group of politicians, bureaucrats,
  16. intelligentsia, and the fourth estate is the total disarmament of the law
  17. abiding citizens of this country so that this oligarchy can achieve their
  18. hidden political objective of establishing, without armed rebellion, a
  19. totalitarian socialistic state. Promoters of all gun control measures have
  20. repeatedly used a massive smoke screen of emotional and illogical fiction
  21. and falsehoods to hid their true agenda and political objective from the
  22. people.

  24. This potential act of despotism, alone, is the primary reason our Nation's
  25. founding fathers wrote the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. They
  26. saw the need to ensure that the PEOPLE (and not government) had the right
  27. and the empowerment to provide the final "check and balance" on government
  28. so as to prevent the usurpation of the liberties, rights, and freedoms of
  29. the PEOPLE by any abusive government, foreign or domestic.

  31. The secondary reason our founding fathers wrote the Second Amendment is
  32. that they saw the need to ensure that the PEOPLE had the right and the
  33. empowerment to provide for the self-defense of their life and property.
  34. Our founding fathers knew that they could not guarantee to the PEOPLE that
  35. the military, the militia, or the police would be everywhere, at all times,
  36. to protect every individual from violent criminal acts.

  38. Only those who have committed violent crimes, be they private citizens,
  39. police officers, or military personnel, should lose their basic civil right
  40. to keep and bear arms. Disarming the law abiding private citizens, while
  41. the government remains armed to the teeth, strikes at the very foundation
  42. of our Republic.

  44. Any politician that sponsors, votes for, or signs into law a bill that
  45. restricts the right of law abiding private citizens to keep and bear arms
  46. has committed another grave injustice upon the truths that our Nation's
  47. founding fathers believed as self-evident.
  48.  
  49. The formation of our Nation would not have happened if the "gun grabbers"
  50. of 1768-1776 had been successful. In 1775, the British began a de facto
  51. policy of disarming the colonists and the Revolutionary War was sparked on
  52. April 19, 1775 when militiamen, exercising at Lexington, Massachusetts,
  53. refused to give up their arms. British General Thomas Gage proclaimed
  54. martial law June 12, 1775 and set about to seize the guns, pistols,
  55. muskets, and swords of the individual free citizens of Boston; thus sending
  56. a message to all the colonists that the right to keep and bear arms was in
  57. peril. The British resorted to every possible tactic to disarm the
  58. colonists --- entrapment, false promises of safekeeping, banning imports,
  59. direct seizure, arrest, and finally shooting persons bearing arms.

  61. This country's Declaration of Independence says it best:
  62. "But when a long Train of Abuses and Usurpations, pursuing invariably the
  63. same Object, evinces a Design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it
  64. is their Right, it is their Duty, to throw off such Government, and provide
  65. new Guards for their future Security."

  67. And, James Madison said:
  68. "I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the
  69. people by gradual and silent encroachment of those in power than by violent
  70. and sudden usurpations."

  72. Thomas Jefferson said:
  73. "The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear
  74. arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in
  75. government."

  77. U.S. Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story said:
  78. "The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered
  79. as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong
  80. moral check against usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will
  81. generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the
  82. people to resist and triumph over them."

  84. Abraham Lincoln said:
  85. "If by the mere force of numbers a majority should deprive a minority of
  86. any clearly written constitutional right, it might, in a moral point of
  87. view, justify revolution --- certainly would if such a right were a vital
  88. one."

  90. Woodrow Wilson said:
  91. "The history of liberty is a history of limitation of government power, not
  92. the increase of it."
